About your LPA: what we do for you
In today's tough climate, it's just not enough to be a good photographer. The strongest ideas, the best training, top-notch equipment and all the contacts in the industry count for very little if you don't promote yourself.
If you're reading this, you've already made an important step towards self-promotion: you've joined the LPA. The LPA is your association - we are here to support, advise and help you promote your work to picture editors and commissioners.
Here at the LPA we have adapted to changing technological and marketing trends over the past eleven years, but one thing has remained constant: our aim is to help our photographers gain good publicity. The opening of Gallery 1839 has helped to define our role. Here's what we do for you:
The LPA is an association that assists and advises working photographers in marketing themselves through the internet to the advertising and editorial sectors. LPA members are given a micro site, which is recognised in the online marketing industry as the most effective way of attracting visitors to your work.
We want to help you. We are here to help you. If you take our advice, we can help you gain more exposure. Please talk to us if you want guidance. Words will back up the success of your images, so please send us your news so we can publish it. Keeping your profile information up to date is also crucial.
We understand how web marketing works, let us help you make the most of it.
Exclusive benefits: LPA members only
We are always developing new benefits for members and would like to tell you about our Commission Exchange which will be launched very soon. The Commission Exchange will be an area on the LPA site where art buyers, Picture Editors and anyone commissioning photography can publish information about shoots they are planning and existing images they are looking for. Conversely, we will have a photographers' notice board where members can detail their travel and assignment plans and tell commissioners about projects that might be of interest.
We firmly hope that this will help our members pick up paying work. You can help it work smoothly by keeping your folio and profile page organised and up-to-date.
LPA members only exhibition: "Constructed Evidence"
Our forthcoming "Constructed Evidence" exhibition is exclusively for LPA members. We will be curating a featured gallery exhibition from members' submissions and inviting a guest curator. The guest will choose the images for a print exhibition, which will be held at The Assembly Rooms in London's Soho, There will be a private view here on 25th June. Please contact us if you have any questions.
As with all LPA competitions and exhibitions, the driving aim of "Constructed Evidence" will be to create PR opportunities for the LPA member photographers whose work is exhibited. So get involved!
