Ross Andersson Silver Winner

Ross Andersson Photographer

The Nude Competition Winners

Ross Andersson took Silver in the Single Image category with this nude, part of an emerging personal project exploring the human figure. The judging panel were the first to view the image. "I am impressed with quality of artists the LPA represents," says Ross, " and admire the integrity of the mission and its international scope."

This image was the result of Ross exploring a new visual landscape, the human figure. "It required me to step outside of my comfort zone, which is essential to keep growing as an artist," he says. It represents a new direction for Ross in both subject and style, and he now plans to investigate and elaborate on it in future photo shoots.

Trained in both film making and the photographic arts, Ross embraces the emergence of the photo/film merger and will soon be offering clients the opportunity to "double up" still and motion work. This represents the most dramatic change in his marketing strategy.

To aspiring photographers, he offers the following advice: "Don't rely on artistic intuition alone. Media is transforming. Investigate every new technological introduction to the media arts and stay ahead of the curve."

Ross has many projects in the pipeline. On December 9th, he has a solo exhibit of my fine artwork at the MPC Gallery in Minneapolis, USA. He is shootings nudes in the studio with the intention of launching an exhibition and is starting the editing process of a feature-length documentary film he shot. He is also working on editing an animatic for a spec promo commercial. Ross will shortly travel to Chandigar in India to photograph Le Corbusier's State Assembly building as a follow up to the Grand Prize he won in the 2009 APA's architecture category.
